Quality
To ensure the quality of the animals, a health monitoring report is issued every 6 months for barrier-bred minipigs and once a year for conventional minipigs.
All procedures carried out in the full-barrier breeding facility is described and carried out as Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
Animal welfare is a major concern of Ellegaard Göttingen Minipigs A/S. The facility is fully accredited by the “Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Care” (AAALAC) since 1998.
Genetic management is based on up to date scientific methodology composed of two components: Estimation of breeding values with the Best Linear Unbiased Prediction (BLUP) method and selection and mating decisions following the concept of Optimum Genetic Contributions (OGC).
